On larger-scale projects, we often issue subcontracts where subcontractors need to bill quickly for initial costs, such as setting up temporary power or purchasing materials. At that stage, they may not yet know how they will fully break out their Schedule of Values (SOV) for the total contract amount.
Since Trimble Pay requires the SOV to be fully broken out before a subcontractor can submit a bill, this creates challenges. Subcontractors often provide an incomplete or inaccurate SOV just to submit their first invoice. Once that invoice is submitted, we are unable to adjust the SOV, leading to a less detailed and structured breakout.
We would like the ability, as the general contractor, to adjust the SOV breakdown at any point during the project—provided that the total remains equal to the contract amount and no SOV line is reduced below the amount already billed for that line.
